Working From Home and Your Family

As Mothers we are constantly balancing EVERYTHING. We have to, it is what we do. Putting a load of laundry in just as we start dinner after we have called the kids inside to start doing their homework while we are on the phone. Yes. Each and everyone of us is that amazing! For me, being able to work from home is such a blessing. My priorities can be in order by working from home. I have run in the rat race for a corporation. Not fun or easy. Passing my husband in the driveway was not exactly spending quality time together. But it was what we had to do. I love what I do so much! But with working from home comes some challenges just like anything else. But these challenges are far less worse than having to send your sick little baby to a daycare and then head off to work. Here are some tips and encouraging words on how to manage working from home and running your family.

Get yourself ready for the day before the kids get up. If that doesn’t work for you, get ready while they are. Try to have a set time to get work done. Whether it be before the kids wake up or at night. Whatever works best for you. I usually have about 2 hours to work steady while the kids are at school and the baby is napping. Then I will try to work some more in the evening when they go to bed. But my rule is to turn off the computer when the kids get home from school. I want to have a snack and do homework with them.
If the best time for you to work is when the kids are home. The best thing to do is communicate with them that mommy is working and not to interrupt so I can get done faster.. I find that when I let the kids know that ahead of time it makes it easier.
Listen, as a mom I know that some days end just as fast as they start. That’s life. So give yourself grace and patience on days like that. The new day will be here for us to do it all over again:)
Leverage your time. Start the laundry before you leave to do errands or make dinner. Take out the frozen meat at lunch time to be thawed for dinner or use a crock pot.
Everything in Moderation. If you are working from home too hard and things are tough between your family. It will only make things tougher. Spend time with them when you know you need to.
